Will five more dead Texans change Greg Abbott’s mind on guns?

To the editor: As regulation enforcement hunted for the suspect in Texas’ newest mass taking pictures, did this atrocity immediate Gov. Greg Abbott to contemplate enacting more practical gun-control legal guidelines?

Not going. Who can overlook Abbott’s demagogic sloganeering in final yr’s gubernatorial marketing campaign? An article printed in The Occasions’ print version on July 20, 2022, had a photograph exhibiting him smugly posing beside signage with a curt, alliterative message: “God, weapons, Greg.”

It was as if the GOP’s most popular deity himself had blessed Abbott and his push for just about unrestricted possession of ultra-lethal firearms.

So unhappy that Abbott and his fellow Republicans pander to vacuous lots slightly than suggest practical options to the gun violence epidemic.

To the editor: Abbott is being rightly criticized for figuring out the victims of a mass taking pictures in Cleveland, Texas, as “unlawful immigrants” in the identical assertion by which he provided condolences to their family members.

What’s mistaken with him? That is past the pale, a totally disrespectful and un-Christian act. The place is his coronary heart?

Texans, it’s time for a serious change. That is outrageous and completely unacceptable.

To the editor: Abbott’s response to the current mass killing in Texas just isn’t as egregious as the truth that he continues to be voted into workplace. Step one in attaining accountable gun management is to cease electing politicians who don’t view gun violence as a plague upon our nation.

It’s not disgrace on them, however slightly disgrace on us as Individuals for not taking a stance by means of our votes.
