USUAL JUNE teases a brand new mystery!

At the Game Awards, Finji, the studio behind indie darlings Tunic and Chicory announced their next project, Usual June. Back in 2022, their previous game Tunic released to favorable acclaim in the indie sphere, and another of their creations, Chicory: A Colorful Tale was also seen as being unique and innovative. This time however, there is a special collaboration in terms of Unusual Jane as Finji brings on board the narrative team at Sweet Baby Inc. which is responsible for Game of the Year contenders such as God of War: Ragnarok, Alan Wake 2, and Spider-Man 2. The project also holds the talents of Adam Hay, a BAFTA winner in the field of audio direction. With the amalgamation of all these seasoned developers, Usual June has placed itself as a title worth keeping in the back of your mind as more details hopefully tease themselves out.

From my point of view, this game feels reminiscent of other larger titles like Persona 5 and the aforementioned God of War. Between the social sim elements teased within the Steam page description and the combat style shown in the trailer, there is potential for another sleeper hit upon release.

The Steam page reveals slightly more details as we are invited to “Follow June and her new besties (alive and dead) as they investigate the town’s century-spanning secret history, explore a shattered multi-dimensional continuum, chill at the cemetery, defend themselves against massive monsters from beyond the pale, and deflect their parents’ questions about what they’re doing after they graduate.

Usual June is currently in development for PC for 2025, there is no official release date at the time of writing; but if you find yourself intrigued, you can wishlist the game now on Steam!
