Sunken temple and sanctuary from ancient Egypt found brimming with ‘treasures and secrets’

Whereas exploring a canal off the Mediterranean coast of Egypt, underwater archaeologists found a sunken temple and a sanctuary brimming with historical treasures linked to the god Amun and the goddess Aphrodite, respectively.

The temple, which partially collapsed “throughout a cataclysmic occasion” in the course of the mid-second century B.C., was initially constructed for the god Amun; it was so vital,  pharaohs went to the temple “to obtain from the supreme god of the traditional Egyptian pantheon the titles of their energy as common kings,” in line with an announcement from the European Institute for Underwater Archaeology (IEASM).
