Celebrate friendship with a playlist that reflects the music tastes of all your friends. If you have already created three Blends in Spotify, you can now immediately discover the Friends mix.
Friends who enjoy listening to music together or sharing music with each other were surprised last year with Spotify’s Blend function. Music tastes of different friends were mixed in such a playlist, so you can always enjoy songs that you wouldn’t look up yourself, or listen back to the song that you always hear with your friends. Such playlists – unlike personal playlists – are also automatically updated with the latest hits. So you don’t have to manually refresh the playlist every time.
In honor of the International Day of Friendship, Spotify introduces the Friends mix. That’s a personal playlist based on the different Blends you’ve made with your friends. This way you can get acquainted with even more music flavors in one fell swoop, without having to switch playlists. If you want to try out the Friends Mix, make sure you have made at least three Blends with friends. Earlier, Spotify does not offer the playlist.
This is how you enjoy the Friends mix
Spotify offers the Friends Mix for both Free and Premium users and reports that the list will appear in the iOS and desktop apps. Android users have to do without this Friends mix for the time being. If you want to discover the Friends mix, be sure to follow the steps below:
- Type ‘Blend’ in the search bar, and invite one of your friends to a Blend (you should eventually have three different Blends for the Friend Mix)
- Open the Made For You Hub in Spotify (the page with your personal playlists) and click the Friends Mix, or click this link.
Before your Friends Mix appears, the three Blends must be approved. So your friends must have accepted the invitation. Spotify reports that it updates a Friends Mix or Friends Mix every day; every time you add a new Blend, your mix changes accordingly.
