Ranbir Kapoor calls Animal the “darkest film” he has done. Shares details about Ramayana

Ranbir Kapoor participated in an open and honest discussion with his fans on social media, where he freely shared some information about his upcoming projects. Some of the subjects that were talked about include the much-awaited movie Ramayana and his upcoming film Animal.

During the discussion about his part in Animal, Ranbir recognised the dark essence of the role and the physical change he went through for the character. He mentioned, “For Animal, I had shaved my hair! For the last scene, I had done that. So now I am growing my hair. Since I am not working on any film, I am eating a lot, and not following any diet. I have changed my entire lifestyle. I have quit smoking, so I am eating a lot of chocolates.”

The actor also commended director Sandeep Reddy Vanga for his unique approach as a filmmaker. He described Animal as his most intense project to date, clarifying that he does not portray a psychopathic killer in the film. Instead, it focuses on the character’s mindset and the way he functions, which delves into a very dark psyche.

Additionally, he stated that the character he portrayed on screen was not someone he could identify with personally. However, he found it intriguing to play the role as it was a unique and fresh character. He expressed gratitude for working with Sandeep as he gained insights into heroism, character development, and the complexity of portraying a morally ambiguous character.

The actor shared details about his grand mythological project Ramayana and revealed, “Ramayana is such a big project, where a lot of work is needed behind it. Nothing has been finalized. I hope it is done soon. As of now, I have been hearing a lot of subjects but nothing (is locked).”

Ranbir also talked about a possible project he might take up, which is the Kishore Kumar biopic directed by Anurag Basu. This project has been in the works for a few years now. He intends to read the script before the end of the month. However, he also mentioned that he hasn’t found a project that he feels a strong connection with yet.

Meanwhile, Animal also stars Anil Kapoor, Bobby Deol and Rashmika Mandanna. The film is set to be released on December 1, 2023.
