Jamaal Bowman video proves Dems and media fools for backing him

New video evidence proves Rep. Jamaal Bowman was lying about his fire alarm stunt late last month — and that the lefty New York Democrat deserves (at least!) official censure.

To recap: Bowman was caught on security video Sept. 30 pulling a fire alarm during a high-stakes House vote to continue funding the government and prevent a looming shutdown. 

Then, after being caught, he lied, claiming he pulled the alarm not to disrupt the vote, but because he somehow thought it would open a door he was trying to get through.

Sure, Jamaal. Who hasn’t made that mistake?

Now, video has emerged on the heels of Bowman’s slap-on-the-wrist misdemeanor plea showing the exact opposite. 

Bowman walks up to the door, yanks off the emergency exit signs on it, pulls the alarm, and then walks away without trying to get through.

Bowman bet big on a credulous media to swallow his silly lies — and won. 

Never mind that the man worked as a middle school principal and obviously knows fire alarms don’t magically open doors.

Liberal journos got busy right away trying to sweep Bowman’s stunt under the rug with the lightning speed customarily reserved for Hunter Biden’s misdeeds. 

His lefty buddies in Congress defended him too. 

Odd, we could have sworn congressional Dems are the world’s biggest “political norms” fanboys and -girls.   

And this was not only a major oopsie on the norms front — Bowman was trying to stall a vote, for Pete’s sake! — but an actual crime. 

The rep’s lucky to have gotten off with a misdemeanor plea; the move could have brought a felony rap. 

Yes, it’s not quite Bob Menendez’ gold bars, but still: no bueno.

Imagine if a GOPer had done the same: endless histrionics about the death of democracy from CNN coupled with bumptious grandstanding from AOC & Co. 

And while the criminal courts are likely finished with his case, the House must still reckon with the fact that one of its members pulled a slimy, illegal stunt to disrupt vital proceedings, forcing an evacuation of the building.

Every one of his peers, Democrat as well as Republican, should be furious.

What if one of the many elderly members — say, former Speaker Nancy Pelosi — had had a heart attack as a result?

A vote to censure him should be the minimum response; expulsion certainly ought to be on the table.

We look forward to seeing who speaks up for him now.
