Is the Intel community whitewashing Iran’s 10/7 role to please the White House?

Oof: The Biden administration is claiming to have some intelligence that top figures in Iran were surprised by Hamas’ epically evil assault on Israel, CNN reports, which is leading to an initial assessment that Tehran didn’t play a direct role, though the intel community is still looking.

Really?

Just for starters: The Wall Street Journal broke the news that officers of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps for months joined in planning the strikes, and gave the final OK.

Is US intelligence claiming those reporters just made it up?

Note, too, that US intel never discovered Iran’s nuclear program: The world learned of it from the Iranian resistance.

To be fair, this could just be leaks to CNN that reflect what the leakers want people to believe, rather than any genuine intel assessment.

Intel insiders work the media that way all the time.

Then again, this is plainly what the White House wants to believe, too: President Joe Biden has so far refused to even mention Iran in connection with the attacks, and his top officials will only admit the unavoidable truth that Tehran and Hamas’ ties run deep.

Indeed, they’ve refused to freeze that $6 billion they paid Tehran in ransom the other week, though they keep insisting they can.

Thing is, word on the coming assault was surely held closely: “Loose lips sink ships” works in Farsi, too.

Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei could easily have worked only with the Revolutionary Guard on this, cutting out even hard-liners in the civilian government — let alone the “moderates” kept around to talk to the Yanks.

Most important: Hamas’ leaders aren’t idiots.

They had to know that, if successful, this barbaric assault would unite Israelis in fury — and that the terrorism couldn’t scratch the Jewish state’s military might.

In other words, the guaranteed result would be an Israeli campaign to eradicate Hamas in Gaza — reducing the terror group to a tiny rump, mainly its top leadership off in Qatar.

Why would Hamas use itself up without orders (and, most likely, payoffs for its leaders) from Iran?

If Biden and his people actually buy this “Iran was surprised, too” nonsense, they’re even more hopeless that we’d feared.
