Hidden contents of 6 ancient Egyptian coffins, sealed for thousands of years, revealed

For hundreds of years, six historical Egyptian coffins have been sealed to the surface world, their contents unknown. Now, scientists have used expertise to look contained in the coffins, which at the moment are housed on the British Museum in London, for the primary time since their burial, revealing the mummified stays of a number of animals, together with a whole lizard cranium.

The coffins, which vary in size from roughly 2 inches (50 millimeters) to 12 inches (300 mm) and date to between 664 B.C. and 250 B.C, had been unearthed within the historical cities of Naukratis (additionally spelled Naucratis) and Inform el-Yehudiyeh (or Inform el-Yehudiya) in 1885. They had been constructed utilizing copper compounds and have figures of lizards, eels and cobras on their exteriors. (The provenance of two of the coffins is unknown.)
