Dell introduces first 120Hz UltraSharp monitors, two of which with IPS Black – Computer – News

Dell has introduced four new UltraSharp monitors. All four have LCD displays with a refresh rate of 120Hz. That’s double the refresh rates of previous UltraSharp monitors. Two of the four have an IPS Black panel.

Two of the monitors have a 27″ screen, and the other two come in a 24″ size. The larger monitors have a resolution of 1440p, and the other two have a resolution of 1080p. The 27″ monitors, the UltraSharp U2724D and U2724DE, also have IPS Black panels. They are distinguished by the high contrast ratio. With normal IPS panels this is 1000:1, but with IPS Black it is 2000:1. Last year brought Dell has released its first IPS Black monitors, the U2723QE and the U3223QE, in 27″ and 31.5″ formats respectively and a 4k resolution. The new IPS Black screens therefore have a higher refresh rate in exchange for a lower resolution.

Furthermore, both monitors have 16:9 screens that can display 98 percent of the DCI-P3 color space, a gray-to-gray response time of 5ms and a brightness of 350 nits. They also both contain a DisplayPort 1.4 connection, an HDMI 2.1 port and multiple USB-C and USB-A ports. The only difference is that only the U2724DE has a Thunderbolt 3 connection, with a DP Alt mode and USB-PD up to 90W. The models cost $480 and $650 respectively in the US. European prices are not yet known.

The other two monitors, with ‘normal’ IPS panels of 24″ size and with 1080 resolution, have the only difference that only the U2424HE variant contains a USB-C connection with which data can be exchanged with a maximum of 90W PD. Finally, they both have a DisplayPort 1.4 and HDMI 1.4 connection. The version without USB-C, the U2424H, costs $380, and the U2424HE sells for $460 in the US. All four screens should be available on November 9 are in the United States. A European release date has not yet been announced.
