Suncor Energy Inc. selling wind, solar assets to Canadian Utilities Limited


CALGARY – Suncor Vitality Inc. says it’s promoting its wind and photo voltaic property to Canadian Utilities Restricted for $730 million.

The transfer follows Suncor’s announcement final April that was divesting its wind and photo voltaic property to deal with areas of vitality growth, together with hydrogen and renewable fuels.

The Calgary-based oilsands large says in a launch Wednesday that it desires to focus on its core enterprise because it progresses to net-zero by 2050.

Kris Smith, Suncor’s interim president and CEO, says its efforts will embrace changing coke-fired boilers at its base plant with decrease emission cogeneration models.

He says Suncor may also be investing in hydrogen and low-carbon fuels and accelerating commercial-scale deployment of carbon seize expertise.

Suncor says the sale consists of its curiosity in Magrath, Chin Chute and Adelaide wind farms, in addition to Forty Mile wind farm.

The corporate says the transaction is anticipated to shut within the first quarter of 2023.
