Skateboard helps very premature babies develop their motor skills

A medical skateboard that permits very untimely infants to maneuver themselves round quickly after start reduces delays to their motor improvement.

About one-third of infants born very preterm – earlier than 32 weeks of gestation – develop motor impairments, together with delays in studying to crawl and stroll, refined motor issues similar to issue catching a ball, or, in extreme circumstances, circumstances like cerebral palsy.

One cause for that is that infants born preterm have had much less time to practise shifting their limbs and creating their muscular tissues contained in the supportive atmosphere of the uterus, says Marianne Barbu-Roth at Paris Cité College, France.
