Shot for ringing wrong doorbell, being in wrong driveway

To the editor: That is what 400 million weapons do. They shoot a 16-year-old knocking on the mistaken door. They kill a 20-year-old driving up the mistaken driveway.

We’re unwilling members in an experiment gone horribly mistaken. The speculation of the best is that the extra weapons in our palms, the much less hazard we’re in. It’s not the mass murders which can be killing us in file numbers. It’s the drip, drip, drip of those sorts of shootings that has created a raging flood drowning us in blood.

We will’t see the forest for the weapons that seem within the palms of these like an outdated man who makes an attempt to take a life with out motive or trigger. Or a person who fires two photographs right into a automotive turning round on his driveway as a result of he has a weapon on the prepared.

We’re a nation now skilled to shoot first and ask questions later, the core perception being that we’re at all times in imminent hazard.

Which is much too near a horrible reality when there are 400 million instruments with which to scratch an itchy set off finger.

To the editor: My God, what’s mistaken with us?

A boy virtually will get killed ringing the mistaken doorbell. A cheerleader is shot for going to the mistaken automotive. A lady is killed for going into the mistaken driveway.

And the Nationwide Rifle Assn. conference is greater than ever, even catering to youngsters.

America’s soul could be very sick, and I’m ashamed of this concern and ignorance. When can we flip this ship round?

To the editor: It seems the chickens have come dwelling to roost. The GOP and NRA mantra is one thing about “the one technique to cease a foul man with a gun” blah blah blah.

The “good” guys at the moment are killing teenagers for the audacity of knocking on their door whereas Black, pulling into the mistaken driveway or different heinous capital offenses.

That is the gun-soaked, fear-based society our Republican lawmakers have engineered. Good luck getting the genie again within the bottle.

To the editor: I’m struggling to consider a sadder, extra good illustration of the sunk-cost fallacy than America’s unwavering funding in weapons as a device of public security, even after the loss of life and grief they’ve brought on.

Can anybody assist me? Anybody?
