When using AI Live Translate Call, a translated transcription will appear on screen, while translated audio can also be heard, reported Samsung. This works completely locally and the text does not leave the phone, the manufacturer claims. The AI ​​runs completely locally for the function.

This does not apply to all functions of Galaxy AI. These features are “powered by both on-device AI developed at Samsung and cloud-based AI powered by our open collaboration with like-minded industry leaders.”

Samsung therefore opts for the same strategy as Google, which runs some services on the phone for AI functions in its Pixel 8 and requires an internet connection for others. It is obvious that these services making their debut on the Galaxy S24. Samsung would like to present it in January next year.
