New passenger record for Rotterdam Airport

Zestienhoven, as the airport is popularly known, has now more than recovered from the corona crisis. Last year, Rotterdam Airport was only 268 passengers below the 2019 level, which meant only one return trip with a Transavia Boeing 737.

The number of passengers could be significantly higher if more flights are allowed at the airport, but it is now at the legal noise ceiling. Various airlines that would like to fly to Rotterdam are therefore unable to do so.

SWISS will start a new scheduled service between Rotterdam and Zurich at the end of January, with the relatively quiet Airbus A220. However, it is not yet certain whether this can be extended to the summer season, a spokesperson for the airline recently said.
