New Bose open-ears have a remarkable design

Bose is expected to unveil the Open Ear Clips earphones at CES 2024. Ahead of Bose’s introduction, some renders of the open-ear headphones surfaced on Monday.

It is not the first time for Bose to come up with an open-ear product. In January 2021, the American audio manufacturer launched the Sports Open Earbuds. This adventure was not allowed to last long, Bose was the first to enter the segment. At the end of 2022, Bose decided not to launch any new open-ear headphones. It seems to have reconsidered that decision, possibly inspired by competitors like Shokz, who are suddenly creating success stories with their open-ear products.

At Bose, the entry into this new segment is accompanied by a design that we have not seen before; the earphones have a G-shaped design and in no way resemble earphones from Shokz and other open-ear manufacturers. Functionally, the earphones are always the same: they play music in your ear canal, without restricting the passage of other sounds.

What is striking is that the earphones seem to ‘hang’ in your ears. So they are not attached to your ears with a wing. The G-design ensures that they still fit snugly in your ears, even if you move a lot. How this works exactly will become clear after the upcoming launch.

Know for now MySmartPrice, who managed to get his hands on the first renders, does not share any specifications. Such details may have to wait until the introduction at CES 2024. It is unknown if and when Bose has planned such an event for the Open Ear Clips earphones.

There are currently no details known about the price tag of the open-ear headphones. Shokz, probably the biggest competitor in this segment, charges 199 euros for its OpenFit earphones. Bose may go one step further: the Sports Open Earbuds came onto the market in 2021 for $199.
