Lufthansa on the road with new Allegris cabins for the first time: the start of a major product innovation

The changes are particularly significant in Business Class, with direct access to the aisle for all passengers and sliding doors for more privacy. The Premium Economy and Economy class have also been updated, but the changes there are more limited.

Lufthansa also wants to introduce a new First Class product at the end of this year. The first Airbus A350s with the Allegris cabin do not have that class on board. They will be deployed from Munich to Vancouver and Toronto, and later this summer also to Chicago, Montreal, Shanghai and San Francisco.

Rollout
In addition to the newly delivered A350s, the Boeing 747-8s, Boeing 787-9s and future Boeing 777-9s will also receive the new Allegris cabin. Aircraft that will be retired from the fleet within a few years, such as the Airbus A340s and Boeing 747-400s, will not receive the product.

Lufthansa has now come up with a compromise for the small Airbus A380 fleet: they will receive a new and more luxurious Business Class, but a standard product and not the Allegris cabins specially designed for Lufthansa.

Aviation news editor-in-chief Klaas-Jan van Woerkom was given a tour of the new Allegris cabins in Munich last week. An extensive report will appear in the May edition of Luchtvaartnieuws Magazine. Take now a subscription so as not to miss that.
