Letters to the Editor — May 29, 2023

The Situation: An ex-CUNY professer who attacked a reporter after harassing pro-life college students on campus.

The Hunter School web site states it has recruited distinguished school (“Knuckle head,” Could 26).

Is Shellyne Rodriguez one of many “distinguished school” recruited?

I proudly graduated from Hunter in 1977. I went on to a distinguished profession with the New York Metropolis Police Division, retiring within the rank of lieutenant.

My Bachelor of Arts psychology diploma from Hunter enabled me to be an efficient teacher within the New York Metropolis Police Academy. Instructors have been required to have a school diploma as per state accreditation necessities, and I used to be proud to submit mine from Hunter.

How can Hunter School of the Metropolis College of New York permit such an individual as Shellyne Rodriguez to cross the brink of such an establishment, one rightly referred to as the “crown jewel” of the CUNY system?

This letter is in response to the horrible actions by Professor Shellyne Rodriguez.

I’m a loyal worker of CUNY for 41 years. All of us attempt to work collectively and supply equality and inclusion for all college students no matter race, faith or nationwide origin.

Sadly, CUNY is having issue implementing these things.

If there’s a controversial occasion on campus, public security officers needs to be referred to as in to take care of peace and concord. Why Hunter School didn’t have public security when the anti-abortion exhibit was being proven is a thriller to me. That’s dangerous judgment on their half.

I hope CUNY reinvents and tries to reestablish the traditions and free training for all that we had since 1848.

Subsequent week, once I educate my macroeconomics courses, I’ll make sure you speak about freedom of speech and the way it pertains to the US economic system.

All of us have a say within the class, irrespective of how outrageous the remarks can appear. Nobody is bullied or harassed.

What has change into of our schools? Who’re these faculties hiring to show our younger folks?

When you don’t consider in a woke dogma, then it’s possible you’ll be attacked.

How may any faculty retain an individual like Shellyne Rodriguez?

These progressive phonies who declare to be towards violence and for equal rights for all, apparently solely imply their rights to make use of a machete towards a journalist. Sufficient.

With a wealth of expertise to select from (within the type of unemployed PhD holders), it’s superb that Hunter — which is the “crown jewel” of the Metropolis College system — managed to rent a loon.

This can be a girl who believes that pro-lifers and anybody who dares to disagree together with her distorted view of the world needs to be subjected to violence and harassment — together with newspaper reporters whom she threatened with a machete.

I can’t even start to think about the shenanigans that went on in her classroom. Who vetted this girl, and why was she even employed?

CUNY receives our tax {dollars} and we’re owed a proof for this weird rent.

That is simply unbelievable. Shellyne Rodriguez, who threatened a reporter by holding a machete to his throat, additionally has anti-police tattoos on her knuckles.

But, she was employed as an adjunct professor at Hunter, probably the most prestigious schools in New York.

When she was interviewed for the job, didn’t that one that interviewed her discover these anti-police tattoos on her hand? One thing like that ought to ship up purple flags that this particular person might be dangerous information.

I believe Hunter School ought to test on these individuals who interviewed her for the job. This could have by no means occurred. The place is our society going?

Shellyne Rodriquez is a predictable lunatic, created by unchecked progressive ideology.
