Leslie Van Houten’s victims are still dead. Don’t parole her


To the editor: After getting medical care, a school schooling and particular remedy in jail, convicted assassin Leslie Van Houten could also be paroled. (“It’s time to launch Leslie Van Houten from jail,” editorial, June 1)

The backward reasoning for releasing her? A lot time has handed since she helped homicide Leno and Rosemary LaBianca in 1969.

Translation: Who cares about her victims?

That’s a stunning sentiment, particularly because the LaBianca household continues to really feel the consequences of Leno’s and Rosemary’s murders greater than 50 years later. The damage goes on generations later. When do they get a launch date from the ache that Van Houten helped trigger?

Backside line: The passage of time doesn’t make anybody’s existence much less vital or related. Fifty-plus years don’t erase a factor.
