Is ‘The YouTube Effect’ Good or Bad on Balance?

At this time’s episode is an audio model of The Cause Livestreamwhich takes place each Thursday at 1 p.m. Japanese on Cause‘s YouTube channel.

The visitor this week was actor and filmmaker Alex Winter, whose new documentary is The YouTube Impact, an in-depth take a look at the methods through which that video website has radically altered how we produce and eat politics, tradition, and concepts. In previous documentaries, Winter investigated Napster and its customers; informed the story of Ross Ulbricht, the creator of the Silk Highway darkish [OK?] web page; and profiled the life and legacy of rock musician and free expression activist Frank Zappa.

In The YouTube Impact, Winter traces the rise of YouTube from its launch in 2005 to its standing because the second-most-visited web site on the planet, behind solely its company proprietor, Google. My co-host Zach Weissmueller and I speak with him about his issues about polarization and disinformation in a vigorous and spirited dialog about the way forward for free speech and artistic expression.
