iPhone 15 NFC issues resolved – TechPulse

With the arrival of iOS 17.1.1, Apple has mainly implemented bug fixes. One of those solutions specifically addresses the NFC problems of iPhone 15 models.

Shortly after the start of sales of the iPhone 15 series, several reports appeared about it NFC issues. Problems that arose after an iPhone 15 was left on a wireless charger. In concrete terms, this always involved wireless chargers in BMW cars. It was thought that the charger in these cars destroyed the NFC chip in the smartphone series, making NFC functions – such as Apple Pay – suddenly no longer accessible. That doesn’t seem to be right: Apple says the vicissitudes to solve in iOS 17.1.1.

That update is immediately available on the iPhone 15 series (and older). We were able to install the update immediately at the editorial office. Apple remains tight-lipped about the cause of the troubles. It is clear that the problem does not lie with BMW cars. If you have been bothered by the NFC problems, the update certainly offers a solution. This way you can use Apple Pay and other NFC functions again.

Snow season

Apple also says it has fixed a bug in the Weather app. In certain cases, the Weather widget on the Lock screen could not display snow properly, it wrote in the update note.

What remains undiscussed are the connection problems of iOS 17.1. After installing the update, the mobile range would have decreased considerably. A solution for this has already been applied in the beta of iOS 17.2. It is unclear whether Apple has accidentally incorporated this into iOS 17.1.1.

Rollout iOS 17.1.1

We still have to wait until December for the rollout of iOS 17.2. Apple is expected to release the new iOS version by then. In the meantime, we’ll have to make do with iOS 17.1.1.

Once the update is available, you will automatically receive a notification. Would you rather check for yourself whether the update is ready? You can check this via Settings -> General -> Software update. You can probably download the update straight away.
