German airport security guards will also stop work on Friday

Striking security guards are now also being taken into account in Hannover. It is still unclear at which other airports there will be strikes. Airport association ADV expects that more than 580 flights will be canceled for Thursday alone. As a result, approximately 90,000 travelers have to take cancellations and delays into account.

Last week, the country’s largest airport, Frankfurt, closed to departing passengers due to a strike by airport security guards. No planes took off from Hamburg airport either. Aircraft could still land at both airports. The strike coincided with a strike by Lufthansa ground crews, which meant cancellations were already being taken into account.

The transport sector in Germany is experiencing a lot of disruption from strikes. In addition to Lufthansa’s ground crew, the aviation group’s cabin crew stopped work on Wednesday. As a result, hundreds of flights were canceled again, this time due to actions in Munich. But there is also disagreement outside aviation about new employment conditions. For example, employees of state rail company Deutsche Bahn struck for the sixth time on Tuesday.
