Some applications do not always want to cooperate and it may happen that closing in the regular way does not make sense. Fortunately, there is a way to force close your apps, which will solve the problem in one fell swoop.
You have to force close some applications to ensure that they work properly again. You often see this in applications such as the Google Play Store, where a hard reset does more than all the tips combined. Just like on the computer, this is quite easy, but you have to know where to look.
STEP 1 / Open the settings
To get started, you need to open your smartphone’s settings. You can do this in two different ways. The first method involves opening the Applications menu and then looking for the Settings option. On the other hand, you can also simply swipe across the screen from top to bottom. This activates a handy taskbar with various useful widgets. In the bottom right corner you will find a gear icon, which leads directly to the Settings. Tap that icon and you’re ready for step 2.
STEP 2 / Open App Manager
If you accessed the Settings via one of the two methods, you should look for the Apps heading. The exact location of this menu may differ per Android device, but there is a good chance that you can find it about halfway through the menu. In the case of this smartphone, the OnePlus Nord, the app is accompanied by a grid icon. Click on this menu. The Apps menu gives you access to a number of specialized options to manage applications. To force close the apps, we have to go to the App Management heading.
STEP 3 / Choose which app you want to close
Once you open App Manager, you will see a list of all applications installed on your smartphone. You may see a number of apps that you do not recognize. Don’t worry, because they are pre-installed by the manufacturer or are system components. Now you have to find the application that you want to force close. In the case of this workshop, we are going to force close the application 9292.
STEP 4 / Stop forcing
Within the settings of the application you will see a number of statistics. You also have a number of options: you can open the application, delete it or what we are going to do now: force a complete stop. This has no negative impact on the operation of the app. It may mean that you may lose information that you are currently working on in the application (think of a WhatsApp message that you are writing, etc.). Press the Force Stop button and you will again be given the option in red letters to close or cancel the application. If you continue, you will see in the next window that that option is no longer accessible. If your app uses a lot of data, you will see that the data consumption is then set to 0 Bytes.
