Exclusive: Hina Khan opens up about her film Country of Blind entering the Oscars Library

Country of Blind featuring Hina Khan has accomplished a significant feat. Following a poster unveiling at Cannes 2022 and a wide release in 14 theatres across the United States, the movie has received an invitation from the Oscars Library

In an exclusive chat with Filmfare, Hina got candid about the film and how she feels about the movie being invited to the Oscars Library.

Hina Khan Country of Blind

Your film Country of Blind has been invited by the Oscars Library, how does it feel?

It feels surreal, that after so many years of hard work a project that was made with so much love, has been selected for such a prestigious International platform. Putting this film together was honestly a beautiful experience. Portraying the role of a sightless girl was definitely a challenge, not just for me as an actor on the project but also the entire team who behind the scenes really put in their best efforts to ensure that we live our characters wholly and completely in front of the camera. So it’s a big win for our entire team that Country of Blind has been invited by the Oscars Library to be a part of the permanent core collection.

From your Cannes appearances to your film now at the Oscars Library, Internationally you have made a strong presence. How does it feel to represent the country at such prominent International platforms?

There is no better feeling than representing your country on these kinds of prominent International platforms. It is a big responsibility to be on such platforms Internationally, standing there for your country and the work you have done, so yes it always feels quite nerve-wracking but at the same time, it is a moment of pride for me! Since 2019, be it Cannes or the Independence Day parade in New York and now our film getting invited by the Oscars Library, I feel blessed to have been able to showcase my work on these global stages and also be part of such beautiful platforms representing my country with pride.
