Deadly fungal meningitis outbreak linked to cosmetic procedures in Mexico



The fungus behind an outbreak of harmful nervous system infections in U.S. residents who underwent beauty procedures in Matamoros, Mexico, has been recognized. 

The offender is Fusarium solani, a fungal species discovered within the surroundings whose genus has been tied to eye infections and fungal meningitis previously, the Facilities for Illness Management and Prevention (CDC) introduced Thursday (June 1).
