Another eviction moratorium for striking actors and writers

To the editor: With actors within the SAG-AFTRA union becoming a member of the Writers Guild of America on strike, and the latest revelation of the studios’ technique to interrupt the unions by permitting “issues to pull on till union members begin shedding their residences and shedding their homes,” it’s time to carry again eviction moratoriums in Los Angeles.

Moreover, hold the moratoriums in place till six months after the strikes finish, so employees can get again on their toes.

Solely Mayor Karen Bass, L.A. Metropolis Council members and officers elsewhere within the county can shield the placing employees from the abject cruelty of the studios. Individuals taking a stand to guard their livelihoods should have somebody watching their backs.

To the editor: Studying concerning the placing writers hits a nerve.

The rich of this nation take a lot and go away these with expertise, genius and love of their craft by no means totally acknowledged or compensated for his or her efforts.

With out writers, the actors on display screen and others who depend on their work don’t shine. It appears the studio executives and their ilk don’t care about this.

I ponder if executives might meet the inventive calls for of everybody on set. I’d like to see them attempt.

To the editor: Sorry, however somebody must ask — what if synthetic intelligence writes higher scripts? Will we be pressured to look at inferior motion pictures and TV exhibits written by people?

A living proof is the 2023 film “65” with Adam Driver. Based mostly on the absurdities within the film, the writers apparently by no means took a science class. AI wouldn’t have seemingly made such blatant errors.

Earlier than 1900, an individual might earn a superb dwelling making socks by hand. Then machines took over. The Luddites protested, however to no avail.
