A mini koala meandered by central Australia about 25 million years in the past. The newly found species belonged to a group that contained the oldest recognized members of the koala household – and it may present essential lacking data on the mysterious early evolution of marsupials.

The novel species – which has been named Lumakoala blackae – is represented by simply by a dozen historical enamel, principally higher molars, present in fossil-bearing rocks close to Alice Springs.
