Flight QF33 landed in Paris on Saturday after a 16-hour, 27-minute flight from Perth. Qantas has gone all out for the new route. For example, a special French menu was introduced and there were ‘limited editions’ pyjamas and special amenity kits on board for Business Class passengers. The Boeing 787-9 (VH-ZNH) used by the Australians has 236 seats on board: 42 seats in Business Class, 28 Premium Economy and 166 in Economy.

“These new direct flights from Perth to Paris will shave around three hours off the current fastest journey time between the two cities and are proving popular, particularly during the busy summer months,” said Catriona Larritt, Chief Customer and Digital Officer, Qantas Group.
To play
Initially, Qantas will fly four times a week on the route, due to the expected holiday traffic and the Olympic Games. In mid-August, when the Games are over, the frequency will be reduced to three return flights a week. Travellers can also book ‘circle fares’, which can be used to fly to Paris and back from London, for example.
In 2026, Qantas wants to start ultra-long scheduled services under the name Project Sunrise. The first routes are Sydney – London and Sydney – New York. More destinations will follow. These will be the longest routes ever, with flight times of around twenty hours.
