Parents boycotting school’s Pride Day do their kids no favors

To the editor: To the mother and father at Saticoy Elementary who say concerning the Homosexual Delight and Rainbow Day Meeting, “Maintain your youngsters residence and harmless,” I say this: Maintain your youngsters residence and maintain them dumb, unaware and unprepared for all times. I don’t assume any father or mother desires to lift a bigot, however that is precisely how it’s performed. Exposing youngsters to the concept that households are available all “shapes and sizes” (which us academics know to be true) shouldn’t be indoctrination. To the editor: As a Saticoy Elementary alumnus, I’m pleased with the varsity’s legacy of welcoming successive waves of scholars and their households — the kids and grandchildren of Armenian genocide and Jewish Holocaust survivors, Japanese People incarcerated throughout World Struggle II, immigrants from many lands, and people of us who’re LGBTQ+.

The range of Saticoy’s group at this time is mirrored by particular applications for deaf and laborious of listening to, dual-language and gifted learners.

Mother and father who stand as much as this shameful boycott and ship their youngsters to high school on Delight Day can be instructing their youngsters essential life classes about respecting and celebrating variations and valuing each particular person and household.
