Listen to the sounds of Pando, the largest living tree in the world

Researchers have recorded the sounds of the world’s largest tree, a 13-million-pound (6 million kilograms) behemoth referred to as Pando that stretches throughout 106 acres (43 hectares) in southern Utah. The researchers suppose that listening to the recordings may give them a greater understanding of the sprawling aspen’s well being and any environmental adjustments that may have an effect on it.

To the untrained eye, Pando resembles a forest made up of quaking aspen (Populus tremuloides) bushes. Nevertheless, it is truly a single clone comprising roughly 40,000 genetically an identical stems (trunks) which can be interconnected by a posh root system.
