KPN and joint venture Glaspoort together have over five million fiber-to-the-home fiber connections. This amounts to 60 percent of all Dutch households. Of those 5 million households, 1.75 million have a fiber subscription with KPN.
The provider closed last quarter 134,000 households on fiber, while Glaspoort connected 35,000, according to KPN in its quarterly figures. As a result, the network of both companies has grown to 5.049 million households. KPN also offers fiber via third parties, allowing 5.235 million households to take out a KPN fiber subscription.
Although the company has over five million ftth connections, not all households actually have a KPN fiber subscription. 1.75 million households have such a subscription, an increase of 186,000 compared to the previous year. The number of households with a DSL subscription decreased by 114,000 to 1.069 million over the same period. The number of households that combine a mobile and fixed subscription increased by 127,000 in one year to a total of 1.659 million.
Fixed connections also yielded more for KPN in the past quarter; turnover rose by 4.2 percent to 466 million euros. Mobile turnover rose by 16 percent to 224 million euros, although this is partly due to the acquisition of YoufoneIf that acquisition is left out of the equation, revenue growth amounts to 7 percent.
KPN’s total revenue in the past quarter was 1.39 billion euros, 4.5 percent more than a year earlier. EBIT profit was 357 million euros, 5.7 percent more than a year earlier. Net profit increased by 5.1 percent to 227 million euros.
