Instagram allows you to post comments on Stories that are visible to other users. Currently, users can only comment on Stories via direct messages. Like Stories themselves, comments disappear after 24 hours.
Previously, comments on Instagram Stories were only visible to the person who posted the content. Now, comments appear at the bottom of the storymaking them visible to other users. The comments disappear after 24 hours, just like Stories. It is not clear whether the comments are archived, so that the user can read them later.
There are some restrictions on commenting on Stories. For example, only people who follow each other can leave a comment. Users can decide for themselves whether they want to enable publicly visible comments on their Stories, an Instagram spokesperson told The Verge.
