Asia and Australia (-12.6 percent) are far behind in that respect, even though capacity increased by more than 43 percent. Towards South America, including the Caribbean, capacity increased by 14.4 percent, but this did not yet result in additional revenues.
Looking ahead to the whole of 2024, IAG expects a positive year, although no expectations regarding figures have yet been expressed.
Despite the net loss, an operational profit was recorded. This amounted to 68 million euros, compared to 9 million in Q1 2023.
