Hirota people of Japan intentionally deformed infant skulls 1,800 years ago

For 400 years, a gaggle of Indigenous individuals dwelling in Japan intentionally deformed the skulls of their toddler youngsters, a brand new research suggests.

The Hirota individuals resided on the southern Japanese island of Tanegashima between the top of the Yayoi interval and the Kofun interval, or between the third and seventh centuries. Between 1957 and 1959, and later between 2005 and 2006, researchers excavated quite a few skeletons from a Hirota web site on Tanegashima and located that the majority had deformed skulls.
