Goodbye commercial: Xiaomi comes with a button to turn everything off

It looks like Xiaomi is going to make it a lot easier to disable ads on its HyperOS skin for Android.

Xiaomi is known for integrating ads into its system apps, both in MIUI and the newer HyperOS. To disable those ads, you currently have to disable the MSA app and then go into the settings of individual system apps to turn off ads. However, according to leaker Yogesh Brar via SmartPrix There may be a button that allows you to turn off all advertising at once.

Disable Ads in HyperOS

Brar posted an image of system settings called “Ads in system apps.” If this setting is rolled out more widely, it will be much easier to disable all ads at once. The feature was recently tested on the Xiaomi 13 Pro, but is still in a testing phase.

It’s unclear what impact this will have on Xiaomi’s revenue model. After all, the manufacturer makes money from selling ads in its system apps, particularly on the cheaper Poco devices. Xiaomi justifies this by claiming that it serves to “improve its products and services.” The feature allows users to “disable ads at any time,” but currently they have to do so manually on a per-app basis.

Since the feature is still in development, it’s unclear how long it will take before everyone can use it.
