A genetic modification has been found that protects mice towards most cancers and permits them to dwell as much as 20 per cent longer. The invention is very promising as the advantages might be transferred to bizarre mice by a single transplant of blood stem cells.

“It was an enormous shock,” says Che-Kun James Shen at Taipei Medical College in Taiwan. “To date, now we have not discovered any unfavourable unwanted effects.”
