An historic reptile with huge palms and lengthy, sword-like claws has been unearthed in southern Brazil. Its “palms and claws, which look a bit like these of Edward Scissorhands, could have been used to catch prey or climb timber,” Rodrigo Müller, a paleontologist on the Federal College of Santa Maria in Brazil, advised Reside Science.

Müller and his crew found the reptile’s stays in a rice farm within the state of Rio Grande do Sul in southern Brazil.
